We're now seeding with rTorrent - which is a big improvement. Less load on the server, and more speed for you!

Server Migration

Hi team.

Server migration is coming soon (within the next week and a bit). There WILL be some outages during this work.

The website should only be down for a little while, but the BDA might take a bit longer to move. Please be patient while this work is completed.

For anyone that has recently contributed to the site (or contributes during the relocation), the time for "thanks" access will be extended to compensate for the downtime.

Welcome Scooby to TeamRetro. You've been around here for a while, and participating actively in the forums. We look forward to your continued input.

Coming soon, the entire retroroms site will be moved to a newer server environment. I dont have exact date/time details yet, but you should expect some interruptions to normal operations over the next couple of weeks.

Further down the track, we are looking at a replacement bittorrent client. The new one will run external to the main server, which will reduce load on the main production server.

The download areas will move at the same time to an external storage box that we purchased some time ago. We've been using it for backups and other purposes till now, but in future - it will be well suited to hosting rom files.

Once this is complete, we can look at new romsets to host and share with the community.

Finally, we're investigating a re-launch of "GOTW". We're considering a random game selection process, to allow this to happen without admin overhead to keep it running. Stay tuned for more news.

Due to the scoring bonus/bug/glitch (or however you wish to look at it) which is achieveable in this game, you can look at this scoretable in two different ways. LOL! Anyway, well played to all who took part!

As if nobody noticed (duh!), Carrier Air Wing is our competition for January and runs until the end of the month. Find it in the GOTW forum or by the link on the right. You have to be in it to win it, so get practicing and posting those scores! As for February, read on...

Dns expired

Whoops!

Can anyone get in touch with NightWatch? DNS for retroroms.net expired, and we need to find him to fix it.

Temporarily, we will be using retroroms.com for forum access only. All other services will be offline until we get the other domain working again.

Update: The bush telegraph has located Nightwatch, and the domain is renewed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Today, we received a donation from a generous individual. Here are the details.

This person donated one cent. Regular paypal users will know that there are fees associated with paypal. In this case, the fee was one cent.

For the record, I've had people try and abuse us before. The minimum contribution before you will be able to use the enhanced features is $5..

When we did some server upgrades, the bittorrent system was down for a while.... but I have some good news for you.... It's back!

At the moment, its only got CHD's. The normal roms will be added in the next few days.
