I thought this was interesting! Here's a cool screensaver program that lets you run any other program as a screensaver, including MAME! The "AnySaver" lets you use command-line MAME to run the attract modes of MAME games as your screensaver. http://www.marian-aldenhoevel.de/AnySaver/Documentation.html

C.D., Nice one matey, I'm currently in the process of building a cab, and this looks like something I might like to come back to. Do you actually use this yourself, and if so, would you be available to help with any issues in implementing the "package". Cheers,

alien_mame, Sorry my friend I have not tried it out. The instructions looked easy enough. Personally, I am not sure why you would need it for your cab; why not just pick a game and let it run in the attract mode? (You know, just like the real thing.) Just curious, Cooldude~ P.S. If anybody wants to check it out and try the screensaver, let us know how easy/difficult it was to set-up. (I have some free time this weekend and I might give it a whirl!)

I installed it. It was rather quick and painless, just make sure the setting in the dialog box where you define what games it choose entitled "File must exist..." is unchecked, otherwise it doesn't want to work.

No. There actually is a MAME Screensaver program out there. I downloaded it once years ago and it's rather nice. You create a gamelist and any games in it will automatically boot to attract mode allowing them to run if desired. You just have to make sure that it's a working game and the nag screen's been executed beforehand.

The thing is, I don't remember where I got it or who developed it.

Why not make your own screensaver?

Googling should find you a program that can do this. I took screenshots of my favourite games, and used a program I found on Google (I can't remember which one, it was ages ago) to create this:

It took care of all the screen wipes itself, and you can add music if you want to. Very simple, and looks great on my cab. :)

Ahoy, Captain! Here is the link to the MAME screensaver:

There is also a little batch file you can use to bypass the nag screen, I just don't know if this would be frowned upon by the powers that be at RR...if I get the okay, I will post it...
