Found in Frank Palazzolo's Blog, dated January 10, 2006:

"For those who haven't heard, the speech chip used in Berzerk has been reverse-engineered by "Lord Nightmare"! This is something I've been waiting for for about 7-8 years! I'm sure that the emulation will end up in MAME and PinMAME sooner or later."

Cool news!

There's something in Berzerk's speech that always gives me a laugh: One of the lines you hear a lot is "Kill the humanoid!" But "humanoid" doesn't mean "human"---it means "something shaped like a human." (WordWeb says, "An automaton that resembles a human being.")

So the robots are actually saying, "Kill the other robots!" Which they can't do, of course, since they're not alive...
